Ilham Alekperov, Director of the Institute of Zoology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) proposed sturgeon-breeding at the Mingachevir Laboratory.
Should the project succeed, it will be expanded in other regions. Moreover, sturgeons will also be bred in the Caspian Sea and Kura River.
Alekperov emphasized that such breeding centers existed in other Caspian states, for example, in Russia. The latter has 21 sturgeon centers breeding up to 2,000 tons of fish.
