Saakashvili claims his presidency has been a "breakthrough era"

Saakashvili claims his presidency has been a "breakthrough era".

According to the statement of Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili
his presidency will go down history as a period when transportation,
water supply and sewage problems were solved. "This will be a great
historical breakthrough", he said, reports GHN.

Saakashvili promised to solve problems with the sewage system by 2013.
"Not a single residential area without a modern water mains and
drainage system should remain by 2013. The Black Sea is being polluted
by sewage draining into it. By 2013 this will remain in our memories
only as a bad dream", Saakashvili announced at a meeting in Batumi on
Thursday devoted to the improvement of the water supply and sewage
systems.

The Georgian president pointed out that much work has already been
done and most of Tbilisi's suburbs, and parts of Rustavu are provided
with twenty-four-hour water delivery. Sewage system reconstruction in
Batumi will be completed by 2012. To solve this problem in the city of
Kutaisi good financing is needed, but the president assured people
that the city's sewage system will be reconstructed in the near
future.

Special priority will be given to the situation in Poti, as a tax-free
industrial zone will soon be built here. "We're working on the project
of turning Poti into a tax-free industrial zone, and in May we'll
start the building of a new airport there. But all these efforts are
meaningless if there is no water in the region", said Saakashvili.
