178 oil and 70 gas fields have been found in Iran, Trend reports.
176 oil fields are located in the Zagros District and the Gulf and two in the central basin. 65 gas fields are located in the Zagros District and the Gulf, two in the central basin and three in the Koredag Basin, said Khormoza Javalanda, head of the exploration section of the Iranian National Petroleum Company.
The Zagros Basin includes the provinces of Lorestan, Dezful, Fars, Bandar Abbas. The central basin includes the provinces of East Azerbaijan, Kerman, Mashhad, Isfahan.
Iran is the four world’s oil-rich state after Venezuela, Saudi Arabia and Canada. It has 34 billion cubic meters of gas reserves, making it the second gas-rich state after Russia.
