Georgia plans to establish one hundred farms by the end of the year

By the end of 2013, in general, 700 million laris (about $424 million) will be spent on agricultural projects, and at least 100 companies will be funded, Bidzina Ivanishvili has announced.

 

"We have promised that at least one hundred farms will be established. I assure you that before the end of the year at least one hundred companies will be funded. This process goes on. In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia completed the implementation of the "Project to promote the spring work of smallholder farmers", in which up to 200 thousand hectares of land all over Georgia were ploughed. For the realization of this project, an amount of over 195,785,000 laris (about $118 million) has been spent, and 710 thousand farmers were assisted. Under the project, farmers received free fertilizers, pesticides, seeds and agricultural implements. All over Georgia, 884 points for the implementation of agricultural goods and inventory were opened, where farmers could cash in their livestock cards .
