Azerbaijan will grant political parties 2.5 million manats in 2014, the same as in 2013, Trend reports.
Azerbaijani Minister for Finances Samir Sharifov said that 10% of the previous year’s funds had not been spent, so there was no need to increase financing of political parties.
The Azerbaijani parliament passed amendments to the law on political parties in 2012 and adopted a state budget financing system for parties.
The state budget of 2014 is expected to have an income of 18.4 billion manats (31.4% of the 2014 GDP), expenses of 20.1 billion manats (34.3% of the GDP).
The income in 2014 will drop by 775 million manats, or 4%, compared with this year, and will exceed the figure of 2012 by 1.103 billion manats, or 6.4%. Expenses in 2014 will increase by 1.1%, compared with 2013, and 15.2%, compared with 2012.
