On the eve of the opening of the Caspian forum in Istanbul, the Customs and Trade Minister of Turkey, Hayati Yazici, said that Turkey aims to satisfy its demand for energy and become an energy corridor for European and world markets.
"Experts estimate that by 2030 the world energy demand for energy resources will increase by 60 % and by 45% in Europe over the next 20 years. Also today, 51% of the gas consumed in Europe is imported, by 2020 this figure will increase to 70%, and this will make the challenge of finding new sources of energy acute," Trend quotes Yazici as saying.
He also noted that 73% of the world's oil resources is located in the Caspian region, the Middle East and Russia .
"Given the geographical location of Turkey, the country is becoming an energy corridor uniting Europe and the energy-rich countries," the Minister said.
