The completion of the Bushehr nuclear power plant project has proved Russia's commitment to its obligations, declared the head of Rosatom, Sergey Kiriyenko, at the opening ceremony of the plant, Interfax informs.
"The Bushehr project is unique, there's nothing else like it in the world," said Mr Kiriyenko. The construction of the plant was started in 1974 by German companies, and Russian specialists managed to build the new installation on the foundation of the old one.
The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Ali Akbar Salehi, described the day as historic. He also expressed the deep gratitude of his people towards Russia for its help and support.
