McDonald’s to open business in Abkhazia

McDonald’s said that it was planning to open business in Abkhazia, calling it an independent state, Georgia Online reports.

Temur Chkonia, representative of McDonald’s in Georgia and Head of Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, said yesterday that the online announcement of McDonald’s will be removed from its website. He explained that the message was misinterpreted. The businessman noted that McDonald’s had a unique contract with him, according to which no restaurant will open in Abkhazia without his permission.

Three years ago, McDonald’s had photographs made in Kiev where Abkhazia was depicted as an independent state.
