Krasnodar Territory Governor Alexander Tkachev announced today at a meeting of the Russian government on the preparations for the Olympics that taxi prices in Sochi will be "frozen" during the Games. "85 agreements on a moratorium on price increases in the "Olympic period" have been signed with carriers," Tkachev says.
Also, the city has acquired an additional 410 new buses, so that public transport for the duration of the Olympics can cope with significantly increased passenger traffic. There are also 90 new ambulance vehicles, including 20 equipped for intensive care. More than 300 doctors and paramedics from around Krasnodar Territory will work in this period in Sochi.
Tkachev also reported on volunteers."Krasnodar Territory and the city of Sochi have secured the participation of seven thousand volunteers at the Games. 3000 of them will work under the supervision of the organizing committee, and 4000 people will assist in the streets, squares, places of celebration and areas adjacent to the Olympic venues," the governor says.
