Oil extraction starts in Afghanistan


On 26th of August oil extraction started in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Natural Resources said. It is planned to increase the extraction capacity to 800 barrels per 24 hours, reports Reuters. Afghanistan's reserves are estimated at 3.6 billion barrels of oil and 36.5 trillion cubic meters of gas. Oil extraction may help Afghanistan to restore its economy and depend less on Western countries, analysts say.
