The Iranian deputy minister of oil with responsibility for planning issues, Mokhren Khodjastemekh,r said in an interview to ‘Mehr’ that the latest level of Iranian gas exports has increased four-fold, with oil income reaching $69 billion, Iran News reports.
He noted that the previous level of oil income was $58 billion annually.
Last year a total of 2,600 km of gas pipeline was completed and the total length of the country's gas pipelines has reached 33,000 km. New sections are under construction.
Khodjastemekhr noted that Turkey will invest approximately $1 billion into construction of the 6th section of the trans-Iranian gas pipeline from Dekhgolan, in the province of Kurdistan, to the border terminal of Bazergan. Construction of the second gas pipeline section to import gas from Turkmenistan (from the ‘Khanegiran' gas purifying plant to Sangbast in Khurasan) will have been completed by winter.
