Kazakhstan builds new refinery

Sauat Minbayev, Chairman of the board of KazMunayGas, said that construction of the fourth refinery ordered by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will take 5-6 years and most of its products will be exported, Day.az reports.


It will have an output of at least 5-6 million tons. Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan will be the main importers of products from the refinery.


The official noted that Kazakhstan was importing 1.6-1.7 million tons of light petroleum. Kazakhstan is modernizing three refineries. The Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant will increase output to 7 million tons, Symkent Refinery to 6 million tons, Atyrau Refinary to over 5 million tons. The modernization process will be accomplished in the second half of 2016. Kazakhstan plans to fulfill all its demands in petroleum in 2022.
