Prosecutors of the Stavropol Territory demand restoration of 140 Great Patriotic War memorials. Funds were granted for restoration of only 36 of them this year, ITAR-TASS reports.
Prosecutors registered 120 violations. 32 reports were made, resulting in disciplinary punishments for 28 officials. Six warnings were made and 12 lawsuits filed.
Over 70.4 million rubles will be granted for memorial restoration this year to mark the 70th anniversary of Victory. A total of 169.1 million rubles are needed.
The Stavropol Territory has 1,270 burial sites and memorials. 608 of them are listed as cultural heritage.
