EU to help Georgian farmers

The EU and Georgian consortiums Oxfam, MercyCorp, Care and People in Need have signed a memorandum according to which the EU will grant €15 million for the development of agriculture in Georgia. Georgian Deputy Minister for Agriculture David Galegashvili attended the ceremony of signing the document in Tsinamdzgvriantkari, Trend reports.Around 160 cooperative farms will be formed in 45 Georgian regions, said Head of the EU mission in Georgia Boris Jurosevic.Galegashvili noted that the ENPARD program will give technical and financial support to Georgian farmers. He expressed hope that the production of agricultural products would expand in Georgia.
