European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oetting’s spokesman Sabina Berger has stated that the situation in Crimea will not be a reason to stop the talks between the European Commission and Russia about South Stream, ITAR-TASS reports.
She noted that Oettinger only meant a halt to political contacts with Russia. The talks will continue in the context of harmonizing inter-government agreements between Russia and EU countries with the standards of the third energy package.
The gas pipeline is an alternate route for deliveries of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine.
