The Russian JSC Uralvagonzavod will launch a joint venture in carriage-building together with Azerbaijan Railways in 2015, the CEO of Uralvagonzavod, Oleg Sienko, said.
"There is a steady demand. Moreover, the Azerbaijani government is building a railway from Kars via Georgia to Turkey, so there will be a flow of goods, including goods in transit. The train park is outdated, 1500 carriages have to be replaced annually," he said, ITAR-TASS reports.
According to him, it is planned that the plant will produce six models of freight cars, including gondolas, cisterns and hoppers. The products will be marketed in Azerbaijan and possibly in Georgia and Turkey.
