Iran will build a terminal for oil exports on the Jask Island in the Arabian Sea, said Akbar Torkan, Secretary of the Iranian Council for Coordination of Free and Special Economic Zones, Trend reports.
It will be Iran’s second terminal for oil exports. The first one is located on the Kharg Island in the Gulf. Iran transports crude oil to the coast of the Arabian Sea through a pipeline 2,200km long. Iran plans to develop infrastructure to store oil on the Jask Island.
Piruz Musavi, Director of the Company of Oil Terminals, said in May 2013 that Kharg Island will store a total of up to 28 million barrels of oil. Four oil containers are under construction on the island.
