The Voice of America radio station has reported about a police special
operation code-named “Rtveli” conducted in the Georgian region of
Kakheti to force as many wineries as possible to buy grape harvests
from the region's farmers, even if it harms their businesses, informs
Business Georgia. The operation aims to minimize discontent among
Kakheti farmers, after several wineries earlier refused to take a new
grape harvest, according to the radio station.
