Iranian Deputy Minister for Oil Ali Majedi said that Iran will start supplying Iraq with gas this year, Iran.ru reports.
Concerning the trilateral contract of Iran, Iraq and Syria to export Iranian gas through Iraq, Syria and the Mediterranean Sea to Europe, Majedi said that its realization was halted until stabilization of the situation in Syria.
Gas pipelines for the supplies are under construction. The 100-km pipeline to pump Iranian gas to Iraq starts in Charmel (Imam Province) and ends in Naftshehr (Kermanshah Province). It will be launched in four months to pump up to 5 million cubic meters of gas a day. Its capacity will be increased to 10 million cubic meters in the future.
