We support a democratic, prosperous and stable Georgia, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said at a joint press conference held with the Georgian Prime Minister.
Jose Manuel Barroso said the EU is firmly committed to political association and economic integration of Georgia, Interpressnews reports.
"The signing of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area agreement will be a historic stage in our relationship. This is an investment for the future, which will bring profit to the Georgian public, affect transformation of the economy, open markets, improve the business environment, create economic opportunities for the creation of a prosperous future for all citizens of Georgia,’’ the source quotes Jose Manuel Barroso as saying.
"There was announced about the 30-million-euro assistance, which is connected to the Association Agreement. Another type of support from the European Union is a financing agreement, which was signed by me and the Prime Minister. This is a 19-million-euro aid package, which is aimed at better governance," said the European Commission President.
