Speaking at a plenary session of the Seventh Astana Economic Forum and the Second World crisis management conference under the auspices of the UN, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to develop a set of measures to strengthen economic activities in the poorest countries of the world to eradicate poverty.
"There needs to be extensive measures to sharply increase economic activities in the poorest countries," he said.
"In today's world almost 1.5 billion people live on a little more than $ 1 per day, almost 2.5 billion people live on less than $ 2 a day. This is almost 40 % of the population," he said.
