U.S. Assistant Secretary for Aviation Susan Kurland said that Azerbaijan and the U.S. were negotiating the Treaty on Open Skies, Trend reports.
Azerbaijani Airlines (AZAL) plans to start flights to the U.S. in autumn this year. A license has already been granted to open the Baku - New York - Baku flights. AZAL needs permission of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, Customs and Border Protection Agency. AZAL may become the first direct airline company to make flights from the South Caucasus to North America.
