Russia to provide Armenia with 1,000 tons of wheat seed as humanitarian aid

Russia will provide Armenia with 1,000 tons of wheat seed as
humanitarian aid, News Armenia reports, citing Armenian Premier Tigran
Sarkisyan.


The premier said that they have approved the program of seed
production for the first time in the last ten years. In five years,
the republic plans to produce 30,000 tons of seeds annually, which
will improve productivity by 15-20%.


Armenia uses 650 000 - 720 000 tons of grain annually, 435 000 - 450
000 for food purposes. It produces 168 000 - 175 000 tons, the deficit
of 380 000 - 420 000 tons is covered by imports.
