Turkmenistan has been systematically increasing electricity exports to
Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey, Trend reports, citing a message of
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
In his message the president of Turkmenistan touched on the
opportunities to increase electricity exports to Kazakhstan and
Pakistan via transit through Afghanistan as being the most
economically beneficial.
Berdimuhamedov said that demand for energy is rising all over the
world. He noted that Turkmenistan is realizing solar and wind energy
projects. They plan to provide far-flung villages with energy.
Fulfilment of all Turkmenistan's energy requirements can be achieved
by establishing a energy system circuit, including the capital
Ashkhabad, and the modernization and construction of energy
facilities, with usage of energy saving technologies.
According to the national program of social-economic development of
Turkmenistan for 2011-2030, energy production should reach 25.5
billion kilowatt hours annually, with over 11 billion kilowatt hours
exported annually.
