Washington and Astana to discuss development of oil and gas fields

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman and Kazakh Minister for Oil and Gas Uzakbay Karabalin will discuss development of the Kashagan, Karachaganak and Tengiz fields today, Trend reports.

Poneman noted that he had been interacting with Karabalin’s predecessor, Sauat Mynbayev, for years. He emphasized the importance of oil and gas cooperation between the U.S. and Kazakhstan. Poneman reminded that President Obama had ordered his executives to persuade G7 energy heads to meet and discuss related problems.
