BTK railway to boost commerce

Kadyr Kasabulatov, deputy director of the CIS Department of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, said that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway will boost development of trade and Kazakh business, Trend reports.

The diplomat noted that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan had had a trade turnover of $434.3 million in 2013, exceeding the volume of 2012 by 11.2%. Kazakhstan had exported products worth $361.2 million and imported products worth $73.1 million. The trade turnover in January-May 2014 reached $150 million ($131 million exports of Kazakhstan, $19 million imports).

Kasabulatov reminded that the main export products from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan were minerals, chemical materials, grain, tobacco products, carbon steel and electrical equipment. Kazakhstan buys petroleum, polymers, machinery and construction materials from Azerbaijan.
