Azerbaijan plans to extract 55 billion cubic m of gas by 2020

Azerbaijan plans to have achieved extraction levels of 30 billion
cubic m of gas annually by 2012 and to have reached 55 billion cubic m
by 2020, the head of the gas export department of SOCAR (State Oil
Company of the Azerbaijani Republic) Kamal Abbasov said, Trend
reports.


Azerbaijan is searching for new routes to export gas, such as AGRI,
which involves liquefied gas transport to Romania. From Romania gas
will be distributed to other European countries, such as Hungary.
There are plans to use Georgia for gas transport to Bulgaria and other
countries.


Azerbaijan is currently exporting gas to Georgia, Turkey and Russia.
Azerbaijan plans to open exports to Iran and European countries.
Azerbaijani gas reserves are estimated at 5 trillion cubic m.
