Famine strikes Donetsk

The deputy prime minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk republic has stated today that famine has started in Donetsk. “We’ve got no medications and famine has started. The shops are empty. 2 million people have no drinking water as well as processed water. Taps are dry,” he said.     He also added that there are problems because of the destruction of 300 power plants. People cannot leave Donetsk because there are no humanitarian corridors, RIA Novosti reports. An explosion at the Donetskaya and Nizhnekalmiusskaya filtration plants 3 days ago caused a severe water shortage. There is also no gas in the city.
