Zekeria Mete, the head of the Istanbul Union of Exports of Grain, Legumes and Olive Crops, said today that Turkey will ignore the EU and continue exporting products to Russia. Mete added that relations with Russia were more important than with the European Union, RIA Novosti reports.
The official noted the need to reduce customs duties and expressed the readiness of Turkish business to invest in the Russian food industry.
A delegation of Russia’s Rosselkhoznadzor had a meeting with the authorities of the Turkish Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in Ankara in mid-August. The sides agreed to expand the list of Turkish companies selling products to Russia.
