The Kolka Glacier that broke the Gizel-Karmadon-Dargavs-Dzuarikau road 12 years ago has forced workers to reconstruct the road over the Karmadon Gorge, according to Igor Dzampayev, deputy head of the Road Economy Committee of North Ossetia, FederalPress reports.
Kolki lenses are melting slower than expected, so it will take another year for the landscape to take the needed forms. Documents for the reconstruction are currently being adjusted.
The road is 7km long. Reconstruction of bridges was 80% completed, 2km of river banks were reinforced.
