20 forced migrants living in Kutaisi have received housing built by
Switzerland, Georgia Online reports.
The keys to the apartments were handed over by the Minister for Forced
Migrants, Refugees and Settlement, Koba Subeliani, together with the
regional head of the Agency for Development and Cooperation of
Switzerland, Derek Muller, and the local authorities.
Such houses have been built in Tbilisi, Batumi, Zugdidi, Gori and
Kutaisi. A total of 10 special houses were built with 80 apartments in
each. Subeliani said that all forced migrants will receive housing in
2 years. 14 families received housing in Kutaisi. He said that their
goal is to provide housing to all forced migrants from Abkhazia and
Samachablo.
Derek Muller noted that they are interested in improving the
conditions of forced migrants. Official opening of such houses is
planned tomorrow in Tbilisi, when 45 forced migrants will receive new
accommodation.
