Kazakhmys, a Kazakhstani mining company, has confirmed plans to start smelting ore from the Bozymchak copper and gold deposit at the end of the year. The first ore will arrive for smelting at the Balkhash Copper-Smelting Factory in November, according to Oleg Novachuk, the general managing director of the Kazakhmys Group, RIA Novosti reports.
365,000 tons of ore were mined at Bozymchak in the first nine months of 2014, 250,000 tons were mined in the third quarter. As of late September 2014, 807,000 tons of ore containing about 8,200 tons of copper and 52,100 ounces of gold were stockpiled.
