Russia and Iran agree on full-fledged cooperation in nuclear industry

Russia's NIAEP-Atomstroyexport and the Nuclear Power Production and Development Company of Iran have signed a contract to build two new energy blocks at the Bushehr nuclear power plant and increase the number of blocks to a total of four, possibly eight in the future, RIA Novosti reports.

Iran plans to produce the fuel for the blocks itself. The partners will carry out feasibility studies into it and the potential for production of nuclear fuel in Iran.

The IAEA will monitor the process and follow the non-proliferation rules, just as it did during the construction of the first block at Bushehr.
