Turkmen parliament ratifies Caspian agreements

 

The Turkmen parliament ratified the agreement on preservation and rational use of water resources of the Caspian Sea and the agreement on cooperation in prevention and emergency recovery in the Caspian Sea. The documents were signed at the summit of heads of Caspian states (Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkmenistan) in Astrakhan in September 2014, Trend reports.The sea is not connected with the World Ocean. It has the highest density of sturgeons in the world. Experts note that it is polluted by hydrocarbon facilities, high population and industry, intensive agriculture. The lack of the river-sea geochemical barrier, isolation of the sea are the factors that complicated the pollution problem.
