Georgia and Azerbaijan have signed a memorandum on developing energy
links. According to Business Georgia, citing Caucasus-Press in the
State Energy System Georgia company, the memorandum was signed in Baku
by the head of the project, Sulkhan Zumburidze, and Vice-President of
Azerenergy Marlen Askarov.
The Azerbaijani side expressed an interest in the LEP-400 power line
construction "Akhaltsikhe-Borchkha" on the Georgian-Turkish border.
After the realization of the project, Azerbaijan expressed a readiness
to join the energy transmission on this power line.
The sides agreed to study the opportunities of energy exchange between
Azerbaijan and Georgia and to develop the energy systems between the
two countries within the framework of the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey
corridor.
