The Minister of Finance of Georgia, Nodar Khaduri, spoke today at a government meeting about the implementation of the state budget of Georgia in 2014.
"As of this morning, the state revenues made up 100.3% of the budget estimates. We have been informed that these data have increased even further. We expect between 40-45 million GEL tomorrow. In terms of revenues, we have exceeded the budget estimates. Taxes have been mobilized. In addition, over 98% of the state tax estimates will be ensured. In other words, the remaining 2% have not been met, mainly due to spending cuts. For example, sums will be deposited back in the government's reserve fund, since spending cuts were employed in relation to this particular expenditure. So thestate budget has been met, which is a good starting point for next year's budgeting," Georgia Online quoted Khaduri.
However, the opposition does not agree with the minister. Member of the party "United National Movement" Zurab Japaridze expressed the opinion that it is possible to speak only about the performance of the income, which was performed only for the following reasons: "1. This year has planned revenues of 100 million GEL less, compared to last year's plan. 2. The depreciation of the lari, presumably, also contributed to the collection of taxes at a higher level. 3. Excise taxes were increased."
"In fact, at the moment the income is missing more than 100 million GEL, more than 400 million GEL have gone unpaid. Unfortunately, the budget will be broken again," Japaridze said.
