Azerbaijan’s tax code amendedPresident of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on Saturday, January 11, concerning amendments to the Tax Code.According to the document, the Cabinet of Ministers has been charged with the task of submitting proposals to the President on bringing the country’s laws and acts of the President into conformity with the law "On Amendments to the Tax Code of Azerbaijan" within two monthsRegulations of the Cabinet of Ministers are also to be applied in correlating to the law and the conformity of legal regulations of the central executive are to be monitored. The progress made is to be reported to the President within two months. In addition, the government has been instructed to ensure the suspension of the rule concerning documents which confirm that road tax has been paid in the course of state registration, as well as during the official checkup. Formerly, a document was required.The cabinet, together with the relevant state authorities and in accordance with new tax rates, is also to conduct necessary arrangements in connection with an increase in budgetary revenues for 2015, and a quarterly report to the President concerning additional tax revenues, as well as solve other issues following from the law.The Ministry of Justice has been commissioned with ensuring that the law "On amendments to the Tax Code of Azerbaijan" is applied in accordance with the legal acts of the central executive bodies and report to the Cabinet of Ministers.The Ministry of Finance is to determine the form of road tax declaration in accordance with article 212.3 of the Tax Code within one month.According to the state law "On amendments to the Tax Code", approved by the president, car owners are exempt from road tax, which will be added to the wholesale price of (including VAT and excise tax) gasoline, diesel fuel and liquefied natural gas produced in Azerbaijan for domestic consumption.Another set of amendments expands the list of imported excisable goods. Precious metals and products made from them (diamonds, platinum, gold, jewelry and other domestic articles made of gold and platinum) have been included on the list.Excise rates on imported cars, yachts for relaxation and sports, as well as other boats imported for this purpose have also been increased. Excise rates on domestically produced tobacco products and alcoholic beverages, as well as tax on deposit incomes exceeding 500 manat per year, have also been increased, Trend reports.
