Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of the Chechen Republic, said that the custom of bride kidnapping has nothing to do with Islam or Chechen traditions and should be strictly forbidden, Yuga.ru reports.
The issue of bride kidnapping has been brought to light in the framework of the activities of the Blood Feud Settlement Commission, as it is one of the major reasons for declaring a vendetta.
Mr Kadyrov proposed that the law-enforcement agencies should prevent the practice.
