Abdullatipov: Azerbaijan and Dagestan need to increase their ties in the customs field

Azerbaijan and Dagestan can increase their close and productive ties in the customs field, Dagestan President Ramazan Abdullatipov said at a meeting with the head of the Dagestani Customs Service, Ruslan Yahyayev.


Abdullatipov said that his republic has common borders with several countries, but its foreign trade turnover is still low, 'MK in Dagestan' reports.
Yahyayev, in his turn, noted that Dagestan is the only constituent part of Russia with a land border with Azerbaijan.


According to Yahyayev, the country has seven checkpoints, he pointed out the recent launch of the Viaduk customs and logistics terminal in the Magaramkent district. Its capacity is 300 heavy vehicles per day.


Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Dagestan amounted to $136.84 million in the first three quarters of 2014, while imports of Azerbaijani products amounted to $122.12 million and exports to Azerbaijan were worth $14.7 million in the same period. Trade turnover between the two sides increased by 30.77 percent compared to 2013.


The main items of Dagestani exports to Azerbaijan are large and small cattle, fish, vegetables, plastics and wood. Dagestan imports most of its agricultural products from Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
