Russia will compensate Iran for cancelled S-300 deal

Russia is holding talks with Iran over compensation payments for the
scrapping of a contract to supply Tehran with S-300 air defense
missile systems, Rostekhnologia head Sergei Chemezov said on Thursday,
RIA Novosti reports.

The contract to supply Iran with the missile system was signed at the
end of 2007.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed an order on 22 September on
compliance measures with UN sanctions against Iran over its nuclear
program, which the West suspected is designed to develop nuclear
weapons. Iran denies the allegations.
