The self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic is switching to a multicurrency financial system, the head of the LPR Igor Plotnisky announced today.
"Ukraine is not planning to lift its economic blockade, and Ukraine's currency has depreciated to the extent that large cities witness people buying up everything in sight from the stores. So the decision was made for a multicurrency system to begin operating in the republic," Plotnisky said at a meeting in the village of Chernuhino.
"The ruble, the hryvnia, the dollar and other currencies convenient for us will circulate in the republic," he said.
