Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic to cooperate in agriculture

Azerbaijan is interested in establishing joint enterprises with the Czech Republic for exporting agricultural products, the Minister of Economy and Industry, Shahin Mustafayev, said today at the Azerbaijani-Czech business forum.

 

Using Czech equipment for the food industry and the possibility of Azerbaijani agriculture it is possible to make a synthesis between the two countries, the minister said, stressing that Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic have a good potential for the development of economic cooperation. 

 

"The Czech Republic has invested over one billion dollars in Azerbaijan. At present, six major projects in Azerbaijan are funded by Czech companies. Its total cost is about $2 billion," Trend cited him as saying. 

 

The bilateral trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic reached 1.5 billion euros as of 2014, or 23% more than in 2013. The Czech Republic mainly imports Azerbaijani oil, while Azerbaijan imports industrial equipment and consumer goods from this country.
