Nikolai Pronoza, the head of the plant-growing section of the Karachay-Cherkessian Agriculture Ministry, said that the republic started planting spring crops, Interfax reports.The area of sugar beet will be increased by 25% to 9,000 hectares this year, potato fields by 20% to 7,200 hectares. Grain and legumes will be planted on 14,000 hectares, corn grain on 38,000 hectares, forage corn on 4,000 hectares, sunflower on 12,500 hectares, one-year herbs and other crops on 6,400 hectares.
