Today President Barack Obama signed a document on the extension of an agreement with Russia on fisheries until the end of 2018. This announcement was addressed to the Speaker of the US House of Representatives and the Chairman of the US Senate.
According to RIA Novosti, the original Mutual Fisheries Agreement was signed in 1988 between the United States and the Soviet Union. The document defines relations between the two countries in the field of "living marine resources of the Bering Sea ecological complex," in particular, the total allowable catch, fishing opportunities, conservation and renewal of fish stocks.
