The four-year long war in Syria has plunged the country into darkness, according to the report of a global coalition of humanitarian and human rights organisations, presented last night at the UN Headquarters.
Based on satellite images, the authors concluded that 83% of the lights have gone out since March 2011.
In particular, according to the Chinese researcher Xi Li, Aleppo, which was the economic capital of Syria in peace time, is currently covered by only 3% of the level that there was before the conflict, RIA Novosti reports.
