Azerbaijani strategic currency reserves have reached $26.5 billion, the Finances Minister Samir Sharifov said at discussions of the state budget for 2011 at the parliament.
He said that the strategic reserves rose by 29.9%, or $6.1 billion, compared with early 2010.
Azerbaijani strategic currency reserves are formed by the Central Bank, assets of the State Oil Fund and state deposits.
Currency reserves of the Central Bank were reported to be equal to $6.057 billion in the late 3rd quarter, increasing by $895.9 million, or 19%.
In 2008, the Central Bank balanced the currency composition of the portfolio and 60% of its reserves are in dollars, the rest are in euro and pounds.
