According Shahrokh Zahiri, the trade volume between the two countries in the past was clearly inadequate, and both countries are interested in strengthening trade ties with each other. Armenia may become a launching pad for the CIS countries in cooperation with Iran. Thus, with the import expansion of Iranian goods to Armenia, not only Armenian businessmen will have an opportunity of developing trade ties, but also Russian ones. Armenian railways will facilitate faster goods delivery from Iran to Russia and other CIS countries.
