Qatar and Turkmenistan, regarded as the world's largest exporters of natural gas, plan to establish an inter-governmental working group on energy issues, Trend reports, quoting the press service of the Turkmen government.
The initiative to create the group came from Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, who is on an official visit to the Qatari capital of Doha from October 11 to 12, and has already had several meetings with the government of the country.
In 2009, according to a report prepared by BP, Turkmenistan had the world’s fourth largest natural gas reserves after Russia, Iran and Qatar.
The Qatari minister stressed "the high interest of Qatar, as well as of the other states of the Arab world, in establishing long-term cooperation with Turkmenistan," noting that Turkmenistan had created a favorable investment climate and the necessary conditions for fruitful economic cooperation.
