Kazakhstan plans to harvest at least 17.2 million metric tons of grain

Kazakhstan plans to harvest at least 17.2 million metric tons of grain in 2015, Kazakh Agriculture Vice Minister Saparhan Omarov said. 


"In the past year the gross yield amounted to 17.2 million metric tons of grain, and this year we expect that the gross grain harvest will not be lower than last year," News-Kazakhstan cited him as saying.According to the Hydrometeorological Service, sufficient precipitation fell in autumn and winter and snow covered all the regions of the country, except the Akmola and Kostanay regions had higher snowfall than last year, Omarov noted."As a result, the soil moisture, reserves in all regions are expected to be satisfactory for the period of spring field work in 2015," Omarov said.
