Establishment of free industrial zone in Tbilisi, Poti drags on

Poti still has not opened a free industrial zone. According to the operator of the zone - Rak Georgia Holding - everything is prepared for the opening, and the zone will open as soon as the customs service starts operating, Business Georgia reports.
The zone in Poti was to open in May. 22 companies have registered in the zone.


No agreement has been reached with the Israeli operator of a free industrial zone in Tbilisi Tera-1. The Israeli operator said that Georgian authorities demand banking guarantees worth $250 000. The company said that the authorities had offered completely different terms at first.


Tera-1 purchased 45 ha of land near Tbilisi international airport in 2008 worth $30 million. The free economic zone was to be established on the 10 ha. The project has not started yet.
